Volunteers brighten community

Ever wonder who puts up the Christmas decorations at the Point Place Lighthouse? Unlike most cities, villages and communities, the Point Place decorations are funded through donations, and the work is completed by volunteers.

This year, six dedicated volunteers braved the rain and cold to put up decorations on Saturday morning, November 24.

Donating their time and talents to the decorating project were: Point Place Business Association Treasurer and Parade Chairman Tom Stagner, Ms. Point Place/Shoreland Taylor Navarre, PPBA board member Pat Konwinski, PPBA member Len Syrek, community volunteer Cindy Clark and chief tree decorater Christine Franks. Ms. Franks not only climbed the ladder to put up every strand of lights, she also checked each strand ahead of time to make sure they were in working order.

The decorations on the Lighthouse are funded by the PPBA. The lights on the tree are made possible through community donations and the League of Extraordinary Generosity and Servitude, Inc. (LEGS).
