Metroparks Toledo mulls 2-mill levy for fall ballot
It is neither the best of times nor the worst of times, but Metroparks Toledo board members believe it is the right time to place a 2-mill levy on the fall ballot.
At the June 17 meeting, the park board announced plans to move forward with a 10-year levy, generating approximately $16 million per year.
The funds would be used for a number of initiatives, including improvements and enhancements to all parks and trails in the park system and the completion of Glass City park in downtown Toledo, connecting it to Middlegrounds and International parks on either side of the Maumee River.
“I feel very good about the deep sense of pride our community has in our parks. However, we have more work to do to facilitate change,” explained Scott Savage, board president.
