V. Marjorie Henry Mittower, age 94, of Fremont, formerly of Perrysburg, went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 17, 1923 to Lucinda and Gustav Doerner, in Huron, Ohio. She married Stephen Henry, in 1945, who passed away in 1989. She then married Calvin Mittower in 1999, who passed away in 2017. During the war, Marge was employed at a facility assembling communication devices for the military. Later in life, Marge was an accountant for 23 years, who took great pride in her work, and loved to mentor younger workers until she retired in 1988. However, her career achievements are hardly compared to her “life accomplishments”. She poured her passion and enthusiasm into the lives of local children by taking upon herself the role of a Sunday school teacher and a Cub Scout den mother. Although Marge would probably object to being called “an artist,” she was incredibly talented in many creative venues – ceramics, confectionary, carpentry, crocheting, sewing, baking, photography and gardening. But most importantly, she always put her family first, expressing immense pride and adoration of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She cherished her family by delighting with them in their achievements, empathizing with their defeats without cynicism or judgement, coming alongside them in times of struggle or need, and being a constant source of encouragement, inspiration, wit and guidance. Up until the very end, she was genuinely happy to spend time in person and on the phone with those she loved. She left behind a tremendous void in the lives of her family, that will be impossible to fill on this side of Heaven. Marge is survived by her two children, Robert (Pam) Henry of Petersburg, Michigan, and a daughter, Barb (Norm) Fuller of Wapakoneta, Ohio, as well as her grandchildren, Rebecca (Paul) Whitacre of Appleton, Wisconsin; Andrew (Karen) Kane of Whitehouse, Ohio, and Wesley Henry of Seattle, Washington, and her great grandchildren, Liam, Joel, Elijah and Daniel Whitacre, of Appleton, Wisconsin. Her other surviving relatives include her sisters Doris Quayle, Wilma Russ, Junie Wielnau, and Marion Webb, and her brother Robert Doerner. She was preceded in death by her husbands Stephen and Calvin, her parents Lucinda and Gustav Doerner, her brothers William, Russell, Lewis and Donald Doerner, her sisters Helen Mittower, Dorothy Haag and Judy Haas. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, March 10, at Edison Memorial United Methodist Church, Milan, Ohio.
