Ronald Joseph Rigney, formerly of Perrysburg, and father to Maggie and John Rigney, passed away unexpectedly, July 18, 2017, at his mother’s Fort Myers, Florida, home. Born January 15, 1956, to Mary (McNicholas) and the late Joe Rigney, Ron spent most of his childhood in Vandalia, Ohio, where he enjoyed playing hockey, “working hard bailing hay” and “rocking” with his four siblings, Jim (Betsy) Rigney of San Francisco, California, Mary (Mike) Wathen of New Canaan, Connecticut, Maureen (Brian) Blackadar of Center Harbor, New Hampshire, and Alice Luthman of Russia, Ohio. After graduating from Miami University in 1978, Ron worked in Cincinnati and Chicago in banking and bond trading. He and his former wife Ann (Hosman Worden) moved to Western Springs, Illinois, where their children Maggie and John were born, then on to Perrysburg, in 1997. Ron moved to Florida in 2012. Ron lived in the moment, loved to make friends, tell stories, and laughed easily. If you had ever met him, he considered you a friend forever. His greatest joy was his children, Maggie and John Rigney; although they were separated by many miles, they were never more than a phone call away. Ron recently shared a joyful visit with his children now both residing in Chicago. Please join his family for a memorial mass, Saturday, August 5, at 10 a.m., at St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg, followed by his burial at St. Rose Cemetery. Family will welcome guests beginning at 9:15 a.m., at the church.
