Betty J. Rick, 84, of Perrysburg, passed away, Friday, December 28, 2018. Betty was born in Perrysburg, February 28, 1934, to the late Marsil and Mildred (Brown) Dhondt.
Betty loved crafting. She embroidered beautiful pillowcases and gave them as gifts.
In 2006, Betty won first place for Best Front Yard in the “Perrysburg Bloom” contest. She had an artistic soul and loved to add beauty to everything around her.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her children, Jack (Nancy) Rick Jr., Debra (Ronald) Barr, and Wade (Christie) Rick; grandchildren, Jennifer House and Jack Rick III; siblings, Joyce (Jim) King, Bill (Eva) Dhondt, Nancy Friend, and Rosemary (Fred) Durbin.
Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Rick; second husband, Ron Grogan; daughter, Cynthia Forkapa; grandson, Tamar Harvey, and brothers, Daniel and Marsil, Jr. Dhondt.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to the Wood County Humane Society, 801 Van Camp Road, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
Friends were received on Thursday, January 3, from 1 to 4 p.m., with a funeral service starting at 4 p.m., at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 (419-874-3133).

Symphony Orchestra. He also quietly supported numerous other local, regional and global charitable causes.Gene was an avid reader. He loved working cross word puzzles...in ink! He relished a good glass of wine and was fond of a well prepared gourmet meal.
After retirement, Gene and his wife made many memories on trips throughout the United States, Europe and Australia.
Gene is survived by his wife, Nancy K. Phlegar; children, Beth Phlegar, Kirk Phlegar (Marnie), Wendy Holmes (JB), Greg Phlegar (Shannon), Mark Phlegar (Natalie); grandchildren, Alexandra, Connor, Hayley, Thomas, Eric, Jay (Meghan), Cody (Kathryn) Hunter, Michael, Mercer; great-grandchildren, Patrick and Samuel.
Visitation will be held at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home (Maumee) on Sunday, January 13, from 3 to 8 p.m.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 14, at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Perrysburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to Kitchen For the Poor in Toledo, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or First Presbyterian Church in Perrysburg.
