Sheriff Wasylyshyn clarifies policy on emergency levels
Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn has clarified his policy on declaring emergency levels for motorists, following a recent snowstorm.
In a press release January 23, the sheriff said he will begin issuing levels 1, 2 and 3 as guidelines for road conditions.
Some Wood County residents complained after the county received six inches of snow on January 19, and the sheriff did not issue any level for the county.
Sheriff Wasylyshyn said he learned from conversations with residents that “some of you want me to inform you of the road conditions using the three emergency levels.”
He also noted that he was contacted by residents who supported his decision not to issue a level.
“Please understand that level 1 and level 2 emergencies do not prevent you from travel and you may choose to use them as an advisory,” he explained.
