Mary Mennel, 577 Foundation director, announces retirement
Over the past 28 years, the 577 Foundation saw new programming, expanded programming, new projects, new activities, artists-in-residence, increase in visitors, renovations, remodeling, construction, purchase of property–the list continues for pages. Only one person can recall that 28-year history and it was under her leadership–Mary Mennel, the first and only full time director of the 577 Foundation.
Recently, Ms. Mennel, who was born and raised in Perrysburg, announced her retirement as executive director but not before a master plan was put into place to “work on the wonderful improvements for 577 to continue what the community has grown to love about 577.”
A favorite word the director often uses to describe her years at 577 Front Street is “serendipity”–the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.
