Superintendent gives update on kindergarten–ADK is not required/funded by the state

The Ohio Department of Education requires the school district to offer half day kindergarten–even if only one family requests it–and all day kindergarten (ADK) is not required.

“All day kindergarten is neither required nor is it funded by the state,” said Superintendent Tom Hosler, at the January 16 meeting of the Perrysburg Board of Education. “We receive half funding for each kindergarten student regardless if they are full or half day.”

He explained that ADK began in Perrysburg through the Perrysburg Digital Academy in the 2003-04 school year.
