Historic Landmarks Commission considering future of 111 East Second
People new to the area or visiting might be confused about the property at 111 East Second Street. Unlike many of buildings in the historic district, the little white house between Huntington Bank and TruFit looks in need of some tender loving care.
Brothers Stephen Fowler and Ryan Fowler purchased the house in 2015 from descendants of the family who built it in 1875. The Fowlers now live in Mooresville, North Carolina, and Lake Bluff, Illinois, respectively. They would like to demolish the house and replace it with a new building in a historic style.
The Historic Landmarks Commission met June 8 and September 14 to consider the brothers’ proposal to demolish the building. The two men attended the June meeting but could not be present at the meeting in September.
