Arthur “Art” L. Starkey
Arthur “Art” L. Starkey, 85, of Lambertville, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. He was born on May 2, 1932, to Earl and Loretta (Lumbrezer) Starkey. Art proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for over 60 years. He was a 3rd Degree member of The Knights of Columbus #3122. He worked as a gear lab inspector at GM Powertrain. Art enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, golfing, and bowling with the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed going to his cottages at Lime Lake in Hudson, Michigan, and Lake Diane in Hillsdale to get away. Art proudly walked his daughter, Loretta, down the aisle this last July. He is survived by his wife, Hope Starkey; sons, Paul (Jane), Andrew, and Matthew Starkey; daughters, Loretta (Jeff) Bunck, Margaret “Peggy” (Jeff Heath) Snyder, Cheryl (Dan) Cole, and Cathy Garberson; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Arnold (Nancy) Starkey and Richard (Carolyn) Starkey, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Anne (1985); sons, David and Peter Starkey; grandson, Matthew Cole, and sister, Helen O’Brien. Visitation was held on Thursday, November 30, in the David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 North Summit Street, Toledo, with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services were held Friday, December 1, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 5153 North Summit Street, Toledo, Ohio 43611. Father David Cirata officiated. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery, where the Northwood VFW performed military honors.
