Maurice Van Dorp, Jr
Maurice Van Dorp, Jr., age 94, of Rossford, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at the Eleanor Jennings Adult Family Home. He was born on February 19, 1924, to Maurice and Marian (Rogers) Van Dorp Sr., in Maumee. Maurice proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Marines, where he was stationed in Okinawa from 1942 to 1946. He was a parishioner of All Saints Catholic Church a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5139, the Rossford VFW #6409, where he was one of the oldest living members, and the Maumee American Legion Post 320. Maurice was an avid golfer at Tanglewood Golf Course, where he was president of his league for many years. He also enjoyed working in his flower garden and spending time with his family. Surviving are his sons, Daniel (Keverne) Van Dorp, Morrie (Susan) Van Dorp and Ronald Van Dorp; grandchildren, Neely (Jack) Van Dorp- Vaughn, Alex Van Dorp and Molli (Ken) Silliman; greatgrandchildren, Jasper and Glesni Vaughn and Taylor and Tristyn Silliman; brotherin- law, John (Gerry) Laganik. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Maurice was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lucille of 66 years who passed in May of 2017; siblings, Earl Van Dorp, Marcia Armbruster and Julia Van Dorp. Family and friends visited at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Road, on Sunday, March 4. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, March 5, at All Saints Catholic Church 628 Lime City Road, Rossford. Interment followed at Fort Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg. Memorial contributions in Maurice’s memory may be directed to All Saints Catholic Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
