Perrysburg Heights awarded funding for expansion project
Plans to construct a 6,000-square-foot addition to the Perrysburg Heights Community Center received a thumbs up from the state, which awarded the Perrysburg Heights Community Association $450,000 toward the project. On February 26 State Senator Randy Gardner and State Representative Theresa Gavarone presented a capital budget bill grant to association members Paul Belazis and Fred Moor. “
We like the fact that this project speaks to meeting important needs in the Perrysburg area with the support of numerous local partners,” Mr. Gardner said. Those partners include Perrysburg Township, City of Perrysburg, Perrysburg Schools, Perrysburg Rotary, YMCA, Bowling Green State University, Owens Illinois and area law enforcement agencies. The state senator believes the addition to the existing building will “provide even more educational opportunities for young people. We are pleased state leaders agreed with us and supported this project.
” The addition to the rear of the building will feature multipurpose, class and recreational activity rooms. It will provide increased educational, recreational and other enrichment activities to hundreds of additional children and families who are at-risk or economically disadvantaged.
