Metroparks Toledo seeks grant funding for projects
At the January 17 meeting, the Metroparks Toledo commissioners authorized the applications for three grants ranging from $30,000 to $125,000 for park projects.
Funding for the largest grant is being sought from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s scrap tire program.
Metroparks plans to resurface the 6,060-foot drive at Pearson park using scrap tire material. Project cost is estimated at $250,000.
Joe Fausnaugh, chief of operations/ rangers, anticipates the project will result in the recycling of 1,400 tires.
