Board of education hears overview on technology department

Technology can be defined as “anything invented after the wheel, or anything that has a plug,” said Brent Shafer, Perrysburg Schools technology director.

Mr. Shafer addressed the Perrysburg Board of Education on summer technology projects and duties of the department.

At a recent work session, Superintendent Tom Hosler said technology is “an essential part of what we do and how we deliver instruction.”

“You think about 10 years ago, we had a technology department of three,” said Mr. Hosler. “It was a function to really help the business office and making sure the buildings were able to tie together, to do email and a little bit of Internet. Today, look how important it has become to provide technology.

“A teacher said to me, ‘When the Internet goes down, it is like the lights going off in the classroom. You just stop.’”
