SUSAN KAY PATTERSON
Susan Kay Patterson, age 74, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017. She was born in Lansing, Michigan, to Carl and Mary Danby on March 7, 1943. On March 18, 1967, she married Robert D. Patterson, Jr., son of Robert D. Patterson and Laurine Patterson. Bob (Robert) and Susan celebrated 50 years of marriage on March 18, 2017, with family and friends. Susan graduated from the Riverside White Cross School of Nursing in 1964 as a registered nurse. Her favorite medical practice was in Perrysburg, where she worked from 1981 to 1997. An avid reader of fiction, Susan transitioned to work at the Forsyth County Public Library in Georgia. Susan enjoyed traveling, creating cards, cross stitching, baking, cooking, all things related to nature, singing, and being a grandmother. Upon retirement, Susan and Bob lived in Blairsville, Georgia, where she enjoyed the beautiful vistas of the Blue Ridge mountains from her back deck. She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Patterson; her children, Michele Lynn Patterson (Diana Hanlin) of Columbus, Ohio, and Christopher Alan Patterson (Rebekah Ross) of Denver, Colorado; her grandson, Wren Roland Patterson of Denver; her sister, Barbara Good (Peter) of Lebanon, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Vicky Francis (Edward) of Piqua, Ohio; her nephews, Kyle Good (Anna) and their children Elliot, Mary, Edison and Clara of Mankato, Minnesota; Trevor Good (Karri) and their children Owen and Morgan of Springboro, Ohio, and her niece Tiffany Hiser (Eric) of Piqua. She was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Mary Danby, stepmother Maxine Danby, and infant son, Stephen Patterson. A private memorial service in her honor was held August 8, at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, Columbus, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Union County Public Library in Blairsville, Georgia, the Forsyth Public Library in Cumming, Georgia, or the ASPCA.
