Daniel Joseph Haas, age 85, of Vandalia, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Dan was born June 12, 1932, in Perrysburg, son of the late Richard and Thelma (Rader) Haas. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a retired teacher of 33 years with the Vandalia-Butler School System, and a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church. Dan was a graduate of Bowling Green University and began his teaching career in the Jefferson Township School District, where he met and is survived by his wife of 53 years Nancy (Ridenour). Dan is survived by three sons, Matt (Kelly) of Tipp City, Ohio, Timothy of Hebron, Illinois, Steve of Troy, Ohio, and daughter, Janet of Kettering, Ohio. He also is survived by sister-in-law, Joy Haas of Union, and is preceded in death by two brothers, Richard (Dick) Haas and James Haas. Dan was blessed with eight grandchildren, Taylor Dean, Madison and Morgan Haas, Joey and Sydney Poeppelmeier, and Frederick, Jocelyn, and Adeline Haas. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 22, at the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 South Dixie Drive, Vandalia, and inurnment followed at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
