Landfill nearing end of its post-closure monitoring process
As the long-closed Wales Road landfill comes closer to the end of monitoring requirements, city officials are eyeing possible future uses for the 20 acres of land.
“It’s looking really good,”said engineer Bill Petruzzi of Hull and Associates at the March 25 meeting of Rossford City Council.
“The city has done a nice job with maintenance–things are winding down there.”
The landfill, which closed in 1994, is nearing the end of the EPA’s mandated 30-year post-closure procedures.
The Hull and Associates engineering firm was hired in 2001 by the city to monitor it and assure it continues to meetregulations for closed facilities.
