Twp. trustees file appeal of Bapst vacation
True to their word, the Springfield Township trustees are appealing a decision by the Lucas County commissioners to vacate Bapst Road.
Ignoring the recommendation of their own county agencies and the Springfield Township trustees, the Lucas County commissioners approved a second vacation of Bapst Road at an October meeting, prompting the trustees to file an intent to appeal the decision with the Lucas County Clerk of Courts.
At the October 16 meeting, the trustees–following a 55-minute executive session– authorized their legal counsel to file a formal appeal in Lucas County Court of Common Pleas.
Several months ago, the commissioners vacated a portion of the road despite recommendations to the contrary by the trustees, county engineer and county plan commission.
