Twp. fire department receives new SCBAs
The Springfield Township Fire Department recently purchased 36 new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) units.
The department was awarded a $218,100 Assistance to Firefighters Grant through FEMA, which required a 10 percent match by the township. The MSA G1 air packs were purchased from Fire Safety Services in Huntsville, Ohio.
The air packs almost immediately went into service last week–within the hour they were put to use at an apartment fire, according to Fire Chief Barry Cousino.
