Glass artist to display work at Ohio governor’s mansion
Matthew Paskiet, a Holland native, has been selected by Ohio First Lady Karen Kasich as one of two artists whose work will be showcased at the governor’s residence through September as part of the “Spotlight: Featured Artists at the Ohio Governor’s Residence” program.
Mr. Paskiet began his study of glassblowing at the Toledo Museum of Art in 1993. He continued his studies at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington, and Fundació Centre del Vidre in Barcelona.
“I saw glassblowing for the first time at Cedar Point when I was a little kid, so I have always wanted to do that,” he explained. “I like the challenge that it is. It is not something that you can just walk in and do. It’s something that takes time, that takes dedication, that takes a lot of work.”
