Corlene “Corky” A. (Etts) Kronbach, 74, of Point Place, died Monday, November 3, 2008. She was born in 1934 to Fred and Sarah Jane (Hicks) Etts in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was known for her love of all children. She is survived by her children, Matthew (Debbie) Kronbach, Gregory (Lori) Kronbach, Kristopher (Kathy) Kronbach, Lisa (Ken) Eisenbach and Rhonda Kronbach; grandchildren, Bobby, Craig, Trevor, Matthew, Stephanie, Jessy- Lynn, Rachel, Elizabeth, Mary, Samuel, Hannah, Jacob, Angela and Joseph; brother, Robert (Ann) Hicks; sisters, Judy (Ernie) Ono and Mickey Mulligan. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Kronbach; her first husband, Robert Kronbach, and sister, Patricia Barnes. Melvin C. “Mel” Majewski, 77, of Point Place, died Friday, October 31, 2008, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where he was an usher and lector for many years. He was a member of the former Catholic War Vets Post 1675 and a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Majewski was a liquor store manager under the State of Ohio Liquor Control for more than 15 years as well as a co-owner with his wife of Ellie’s Deli and Catering for 27 years. He was an avid browser and shopper of deals and bargains. He enjoyed making people laugh and playing practical jokes on his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn “Ellie” (Olzak) Majewski; children, Michael, Mark (Carla), Gary (Lynnette), Linda and Philip (Laurie); 13 grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; sisters, Theresa (Tim) O’Connell and Nancy (Dave) Wisniewski. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were held Monday, November 3, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with Father Gerald Chmiel officiating. Schaffer, 87, of Point Place, died Sunday, November 2, 2008. She was born in Toledo, in 1921, to Herbert and Edith Plotner. She enjoyed shopping, cooking her family’s favorite meals, and playing poker. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, William; son, Ronald (Bonnie) King; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and her sister-in-law, Verna Balkfer. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Raymond Plotner; sister Luella Warn, and grandson, Ronnie King. Funeral services were held Thursday, November 6, in the David R. Fallon, 82, of Point Place, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born to Raymond and Rose (Duenki) Fallon in Point Place on April 2, 1926. He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, where he retired in 1983, after 35 years of service. He was a member of Point Place United Church of Christ and the American Legion. Mr. Fallon was a proud veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army in Germany. He enjoyed all sports, especially bowling, pro football and golf. He also enjoyed woodworking in his shop . He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois (Rall) Fallon; children, Kenneth (Brenda) Fallon Jr., Janie (Terry Shank) Seely, Ronald (Janice) Fallon and Bryan Fallon; grandchildren, Christine, Catherine, Angela, Scott, Ron Jr. and Jeffery; greatgrandchildren, Joshua, Megan, Kaylin, Nicholas and Elana; brother, Melvin Fallon, and sisters, Isabelle Rohweder and Barbara Sullivan. He was born on June 15, 1929, in Toledo, to Dean and Margaret (Swantack) Rowland. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Rowland was a selfemployed carpenter and coowner/ operator of Rowland Construction Co. He also was an auctioneer/coowner/ operator for Rowland’s Auction House, and his specialty was charitable auctions to benefit children. He enjoyed racing motorcycles and go-carts, building boats, and restoring and customizing motors and cars. He was the cofounder of the Quarter Midget Club of Lucas County, as well as a member of the American Motorcycle Association. He also was co-owner of the Groove of Toledo slot car racing, and built 19 car racing stores in nearby towns. He also enjoyed visiting Windsor Casino, attending family gatherings, and working on special pieces of furniture for loved ones. Mr. Rowland and his wife, Dorothy, at one time managed the Lazy River Camp Ground in Pioneer, Ohio. They enjoyed 23 years of living by the Ottawa River in Point Place, where they raised their family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Dow Rowland; children, John (Susan) Rowland, Denise Rowland, and Michael (Kathy) Rowland; grandchildren, Justin, Tory, Evan, Morgan, and Heather; great-grandson, Teague; sisters, Betty Ann Wayton, Mary (Kurt) Richter, and Barbara (Jim) Davis; brother, James (Hwa-Jah) Rowland, and many nieces and nephews. Sherman-Schaetzke, 51, of Luna Pier, Michigan, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008. She was born in Toledo, in 1957, to Nick Jr. and Marilyn (Daubner) Sherman. She worked as a patient account analyst for ProMedica Health System for the past 10 years; prior to that she worked for 10 years at Dr. Wakil Khan’s practice. She enjoyed studying about Native Americans, and took pleasure in animals and music. She met Daniel Schaetzke, in 1978, and they were married in 1996. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Daniel, and mother, Marilyn. She was preceded in death by her father, Master Sergeant Nick Sherman Jr. There were no services held for Mrs. Sherman- Schaetzke, per her request. Arrangements were made by the David R. Jasin Funeral Home. Sophie Atherine, 83, a lifelong resident of Toledo, and formerly of north Toledo and Point Place, died October 17, 2008. She was born to Zafer and Irene (Louizos) Christo on February 4, 1923. She was employed at Libbey Glass for 36 years, where she retired in 1987. She was affiliated with Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Everett “Pete” (Barbara) Atherine Jr.; grandsons, Everett (Emily) Atherine III and Nickolas (Jennifer) Atherine; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Eliza. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Atherine Sr., and her cousin, Gus Arvanitis. The Rev. Aristotle Damaskos held Trision Prayers on Monday, October 20, at the David R. Middaugh, 71, of the Point Place- Shoreland area, Toledo died Friday, October 17, 2008. He was born at his childhood home on the east side of Toledo on July 14, 1937, to Catherine and Raymond L. Middaugh. He attended Good Shepherd Church for part of his elementary school years, along with Franklin Elementary, and then graduated at Waite High School. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1954 to 1962 with an honorable discharge. While in the reserves, he played the lyre for the Toledo Neptune’s Drum and Bugle Corps from 1954 to 1962. Mr. Middaugh worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company for 36 years, from 1955-1991, where he was a foreman and an assistant manager. During his employment at Ohio Bell, he transferred his family to Sandusky, Ohio, in 1981. In Toledo, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was a treasurer and financial secretary and a past faithful navigator for the 4th Degree from 1973 to 1974. He was ordained a deacon in the Catholic Church in 1981, and recently celebrated his 25-year jubilee as a deacon. He was an administrative assistant and a deacon at Sts. Peter and Paul’s parish in Sandusky from 1991 to 2001. When he and his wife, Marge, moved back to Toledo in 2001, Mr. Middaugh became active again in parish ministry and as a chaplin. He served as a deacon at St. John the Baptist Church and in 2004, he became the fire chaplain of the Washington Township Fire Department. He remained in those positions until his death. He led the creation of the bereavement ministry program the Diocese of Toledo recently endorsed through a book that he and his bereavement team wrote. Mr. Middaugh is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marge; daughters, Sue (Charlie) Obee, Jenny Middaugh; grandsons, Nicholas and Jeremy Obee; aunt, Mildred Lang; many cousins, including his closest cousin, Ronald Kitting and his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Middaugh. The Washington Township Fire Department held held services on Monday, October 20, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Services on Tuesday, October 21, began with Scripture then K of C and concluded with K of C 4th degree Chalice. A Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, October 22, with Bishop Leonard Blair officiating. She was born in 1931, in Seneca Rocks, West Virginia, to French and Margaret (Nelson) Vance. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and camping with them. She was devoted to Scouting for more than 50 years, and specifically with Troop 999. Mrs. Widanka is survived by her husband of 56 years, Chester Widanka Sr.; children, Charles “Ricochet” (Laura) Widanka and Sandra (Antonio) Juarez; sister, Alice Huffman; grandchildren, John (Kristi) Billings, Randy (Michelle) Widanka, Darrell (Glenda) Billings, Tracy Billings, Stacy (George) Brown, Stefanie Widanka, Lisa Sentle and “adopted” granddaughter, Bertha Luna; greatgrandchildren, Josh, Joseph, Christopher, Tyler, Michael, Raymond, Kayle, Haylea, Aayleah, Emilie, Xavier, Brian, Daniel, Jacob, Merranda, Nick, D. Hunt-Karl, 89, formerly of Point Place, died Saturday, October 11, 2008, at Swanton Health Care. She was born in Toledo in 1919, to Robert and Josephine (Rhodes) Blum. She was a homemaker most of her life, and was a member of Cass Road Baptist Church. She belonged to various organizations, including F.O.E. Aerie 2322 Rossford; Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Point Place Post #110, and Ladies Auxiliary VFW Point Place Post #3265. She enjoyed cross stitching and crocheting. She is survived by her children, Ronald (Lynda) Hunt, Jerry Hunt, Thomas (Betty) Hunt, and Patricia “Tish” Frost; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Norma Snyder. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Hunt, in 1963, and Martin Karl in 1977. She was born in Rossford, to Bronislaw and Anna (Sporny) Dracz in 1927. She worked more than 20 years in the catering industry. She was a party hostess for Gladieux Catering and then worked as the commissary manager for Buckeye Vending Company, where she retired in 1999. She enjoyed reading and camping. Her memberships included Phi Iotta Rho Sorority and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She is survived by her children, Thomas (Sandra D.), Terrence (Sandra A.), Timothy (Joan) and Tedd Sandlin; seven grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1934, to R. Randolph and M. Lucille (Nixon) Berry. Jan wore many different hats as far as his working career went. He worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation for 25 years, retiring in 1994; he was an Ohio history teacher and a photographer; and also served as a past Scout master for Cub and Boy Scouts of America. His memberships included past master of Rubicon Lodge 237 F&AM, FOE Aerie #197, and Pilgrim Church of the United Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and football. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State University football team, his favorite and alma mater. He is survived by his sons, Robert (Deborah), D. Douglas, B. Bradley and W. Andrew (Jennifer) Berry; grandchildren, Bridget, Botany and Gage; sister, Patricia Schafer; nephew, David Schafer, and niece, Susan Behnfeldt. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America. Helen L. Kowalka, 89, of Sylvania, Ohio, died Sunday, September 21, 2008, while at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg Center. She was born on January 8, 1919, in Leipsic, Ohio, to Lemert and Mary Mae (Corron) Anderson. She graduated from Scott High School in Toledo, in 1936. Ms. Kowalka worked for Dr. Wilson in Erie, Michigan, upon her graduation from high school, then for the City of Toledo Department of Vital Statistics and the Toledo Department of Forestry until 1954. She also was an officer of her husband’s business, Southern Michigan News Company, until 1973. She belonged to Devil’s Lake Yacht Club and to Highland Meadows Golf Club. Helen and her husband Melvin would love to entertain friends and family at their lakefront home on Lake Columbia in the Irish Hills of Michigan. Ms. Kowalka is survived by her brother and sister, Charles (Dorthea) Anderson and Janet (Ronald) Love, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Kowalka, on December 23, 1981. LUCILLE ROLLINS Frances Joyce Folta, 71, of Toledo, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in the Toledo Hospital. She was born on March 8, 1937, in Toledo, to Stanley and Mary (Pokrywka) Gajewski. Formerly known as Sr. Mary Leonard, she was a member of the Franciscan Community for 26 years, working as a teacher and administrator in schools throughout Ohio and Michigan. She was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church, where she taught in the elementary school and was a member of the church’s Altar Rosary Society. She married Richard Folta on June 9, 1979. She enjoyed Polish music and was a strong supporter and “Band Mom” of the Polish American Concert Band. She also was a member of the “Old Timers Breakfast Club” and a personal secretary for her husband, a former Grand Knight and 4th Degree Honor Guard with the Knights of Columbus. She is survived by her husband, Richard; daughters, Sherrylynn (Victor “Skip”) Taylor of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and Susan (Keith) Snyder of Sylvania, Ohio; grandchildren, Sean, Stacey, and Christopher Taylor, and Danielle and Matthew Snyder; and brother, Leonard (Mary) Gajewski. She was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Gajewski, and sister, Sr. Mary Grace Gajewski. Kern, 94, of Toledo, died Friday, September 5, 2008, at his Sunrise home in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mr. Kern was born January 26, 1914, in his grandparents’ country store in Limestone, Ohio. He grew up in Toledo, and graduated from Waite High School. He was a manager at Coca Cola until he left to serve in the United States Army during World War II. He served as sergeant first class in a heavy artillery unit on the front lines in Germany. After his discharge in 1945, he returned to Coca Cola, and attended classes at Toledo University. He joined Toledo Scale, where he worked as an electrician for 35 years. Mr. Kern was an avid boater, sailor, water skier, camper and fisherman. He and his wife enjoyed a lifetime of living and traveling the Great Lakes. They were longtime members of Ottawa River Yacht Club since 1957. He was known for his artistic and mechanical skills as a model boat builder. He maintained a lifelong interest in motorcycles, having and won many cross-country runs. He also enjoyed billiards. He is survived by his daughter, Karen of Ann Arbor; grandsons, Michael of Washington, D.C., and Stephen (Michele) of Maui, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in November 1993, and his sister, Violet, in 1989. Visitation and services by the VFW Point Place Post #3265 were held September 8, at the David R. JACQUELINE SMITH Cheryl A. Stanton-Meyer, 49, of Toledo, died September 8, 2008, at her home. She was born in Toledo, to Lester and Lorraine (Britt) Stanton. She worked for the past nine years for Toledo Public Schools, at Whitmer School in the food service area, as well as working at Outings Unlimited Club. Her enthusiasm for genealogy made her the “family historian.” her explorations led her to vast resources of historical information which she left for her family to treasure and continue in the years to come. Mrs. Stanton-Meyer is survived by her husband of 34 years, Ronald; children, Joshua (Becca) Meyer, Amy (Jim) Kiffel, Jacob Meyer, and Emily Meyer; grandchildren, Taylor and Josh Jr.; her mother, Lorraine Stanton; siblings, Lester (Phylis) Stanton, Ondrea (John) Brown, and Christina (Jack) Jenssen, and many nieces and nephews. Cisowski, 80, of Toledo, died Tuesday, August 26, 2008. He was born on August 25, 1928, in Flint, Michigan, to John and Mary (Gibala) Cisowski. He grew up on Tilden Street and was a member of the Tilden Street Rinkydinks, a close-knit neighborhood group. He attended All Saints elementary, and Flint Northern High School. Mr. Cisowski was a graduate of the University of Detroit and the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy. At UT, he belonged to the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and met Marlene Szymanski, an Alpha Omicron Sorority girl. They married in 1955, and were married for 50 years. Proud of his Polish heritage, he was a long time member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. He served as the head of Parish council and belonged to the Holy Name Society while his children attended school there. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards with family, golfing with his friends in the Retiree Golf League at Bay View Golf Club, and spending time with his three grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and was proud of his annual tomato crop. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and member of the CWV Jude Thaddeus Post 1675, Mr. Cisowski was an Army pharmacist and owner and operator of the Shoreland Pharmacy in Point Place from 1960 to 1995. He filled his one millionth prescription on his oldest son Timothy’s birthday on April 26, 1987. He also received a certificate of 50 years of pharmaceutical service from the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. Mr. Cisowski is survived by his children, Timothy Cisowski of Shoreland, Carolyn Cisowski of Point Place, David (Lisa) Cisowski of Barboursville, West Virginia, and Margaret (Andrew) Miller of Toledo; grandchildren, Sheridan, Alexandra and Ryan Miller; sister, Agnes Tracy of Flint, and close aunt, Irene Rygalski of Toledo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; son, Fredrick, and brother, Stanley. St. Adalbert Church members led a Scripture Service and CWV members led a Vigil Service on August 29, in the Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe. She was born December 14, 1939, to Leslie Rawlins and Nettie Perry, in Curtice, Ohio, on the Otto Hilly farm. She married Glen Fugate on May 22, 1954, in Clearfield, Kentucky. She enjoyed reading historical Native American history. Richard “Dick” R. Kraemer, 80, of Point Place, died Saturday, August 30, 2008. He was born in Toledo, to Clifford and Jule (Cady) Kraemer in 1928. Mr. Kraemer was a graduate of Ottawa Hills High School. After graduation, he left home to pursue his passion for the arts by attending an art school in Illinois. He also worked as a lifeguard before entering the United States Naval Hospital Corps during the Korean War. His work history is extensive. After the service to his country, he took up residence in Miami, Florida, for a short time then returned to Toledo in 1957, where he worked at several restaurants as well as at Surface Combustion in security. He then worked for Standard Oil as a pipe fitter for 10 years and finally as proprietor of Kelsey’s Saloon. He also was a member of Lucas County Sheriff Department Auxiliary. T he artist in Mr. Kraemer took over, his love of antiques, and the beauty he saw in intricate wood carvings that he salvaged from the buildings from the Old West End had restaurant owners seeking out his talent to design their establishments. He helped with the interior design of The Oaken Bucket and Fort Industry Square. This inspired him to design and open his own restaurant, the former Kelsey’s Saloon in downtown Toledo, where he worked for 20 years until he retired in 1999. Mr. Kramer lived his final years in Point Place, where he could be found in his garden. He also helped in the collaboration of the restoration of Historic St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed vacations taken in the eastern part of the United States. He is survived by his daughter, Kristine (Bruce) Ladd, and son, A.J. Kraemer; his grandchildren, Kristy, Lauren and Zachary; Kristine’s mother, Nancy Priebe, and A.J.’s mother, Jo Jasin; half brothers, James and Jeffrey Kraemer; several nephews and cousins; special friends, Barb and Matt Emch, Sharon and Bill DeLaney, and Don Clark. She was born July 18, 1955, in Toledo, to Donald and Anne (Gozdowski) Adamski. She worked both in the medical field as an office assistant and also in the Catholic Church as a church musician. As a talented church musician, she was the organist at various Catholic churches in the area which included St. Richard in Swanton, Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Jude and most recently St. John the Baptist. She also enhanced liturgies and ceremonies with her vocals. Among her peers, she was known as “The Voice.” She enjoyed nature and wildlife. Ms. Adamski is survived by her siblings, Matthew (Kathy) Adamski, Steven (Patricia) Adamski, Sharon (Ronald) Van Buskirk, Donald (Michelle) Adamski, Karen (Richard) McFarland; cousin, Kathy Avedisian and special friends, Brian Smith and the Rev. He was born in Toledo, to Loyd and Dora (Veler) Cousino. He was a police officer for the City of Toledo for 26 years, retiring in 1990. Mr. Cousino served in the United States Army. Athanasea “Agnes” Lewandowski, 88, died Thursday, August 14, 2008, at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Kuhar, where she had resided for more than two years. She was born in Toledo, on October 28, 1919, to Nicholas and Mae Elizabeth Sterger. She married Daniel Harry Lewandowski on October 18, 1938. She was employed as a waitress for 28 years at the Northwood Inn and Villa restaurants. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and enjoyed participating at various food workshops in preparation for the annual Greek American Festival. She also was active with the Philoptochos Society and received the Mother of the Year Award from the society in May 2002. Ms. Lewandowski is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Michael) Kuhar and Susan (Fredrick) Clement; grandchildren, Michael (Diana) Kuhar, Deborrah (Chris) Trznadel, Blacque Clement, Nicole (Michael) Kane, and Bradley (Rose) Clement; five great-grandchildren; sister, Crystal “Margie” Rogers; brother, Stanley Sterger, and 12 nieces and nephews. Joan was born May 11, 1931, to Stephen and Kathryn Honisko. On October 21, 1950, she married Harry Ashman, Jr. She was employed at Libbey Glass for 30 years. After her retirement in 1989, she worked for several years as a product demonstrator at several stores, including Kroger’s, where she enjoyed meeting and visiting with all the customers. She was a long-time parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a past president of the Woman’s Altar Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Golden Emblem Club and Board One of the Democratic Party. Ms. Ashman enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling to Las Vegas with her husband, meeting with her many friends and cheering on her favorite teams, the Detroit Tigers and the Michigan Wolverines. She was born in Long Island, New York, on March 9, 1935, to Theodore and Ethel Hermann. In 1946, her family relocated to Toledo. She then worked as a commercial artist at Libbey Glass, where she met her future husband, Robert Nelson. In her spare time, Grace volunteered for the Woodward Band and the Board of Elections for Toledo and Fort Myers for more than 30 years. She moved to Fort Myers in 2001, where she held the title of activities director of Royal Palm Village. She was an illustrator of children’s books for Two Sisters Publishing Company which she and her sister, Vivian Cook, founded. In search for inspiration on their last book together, the sisters embarked on a trip to Alaska. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Hawaiian Islands. For 30 years, he was employed as senior buyer for the Dana Corporation until his retirement in 1986. Nancy J. (Barger) Mieczkowski-Briggs, 63, of the Point/Shoreland Community died Monday, June 23, 2008. She was born to Robert and Jeanne (Snyder) Barger in Norman, Oklahoma, on June 16, 1945. She was a sales representative for Estee Lauder and Revlon. She also was a playground monitor at Fort Meigs Elementary School, co-leader of Girl Scout Troop #798, and a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Troy-Webster Post #240. She was involved in many organizations which allowed her to share her gift of mercy and compassion with others. She was a model for Walbridge and Bellg Agency during the 1970s. She enjoyed photography, listening to country music, travel and boating on Lake Erie. She is survived by her children, Kim (Terry) Lanning and Kevin (Kathy) Mieczkowski; grandchildren, Kirsten (Jason), Kyle, and Kelsie; great-granddaughter, Kalie; parents; nieces and nephews, Grant (Beth), Sandra, and Alyssa. She moved to Toledo, with her family as a child. She graduated from Libbey High School in 1966. She married her high school sweetheart, Bill Forrey, and they had three daughters. She worked as a physical therapy aide at the Toledo Hospital for 17 years. While in Toledo, she enjoyed playing softball and going to the family cottage on the Maumee River. She also enjoyed helping take care of her first grandchild, Brooke. In 1997, she moved to San Diego, California, to be near her daughters and granddaughter, where she lived for 11 years and continued to work as a physical therapy assistant. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and having “beach days” in Ocean Beach. Her creative side was expressed in the crafts she made and the flowers she cultivated in her garden, especially roses. She served as a Girl Scout leader, and belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Mi- John Bowling League and served as league secretary. She enjoyed playing bingo and camping. He was born in Toledo, in 1924, to Theodore and Frances (Kropaczewski) Kwiatkowski. He worked for more than 38 years as a stationary engineer for the Jeep Corporation and retired in 1980. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. In December 1944, he was wounded in action and was presented the Purple Heart. He was the past commander of Buddy Frankowski VFW Post 5530. He enjoyed playing pinochle at the VFW with his fellow comrades. He also enjoyed his work outs at the health club, fishing on Lake Erie and hunting with his friends. There were always fresh vegetables at the Kwiatkowski house because of his green thumb. Mr. Kwiatkowski is survived by his wife of 62 years, Juanita (Walter); children, Tom (Pat) Kwiatkowski, Michael Kwiatkowski and Marsha (Michael) Samberg; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Adams, Linda (Tim) Adams, and Marcia Gradel; grandchildren, Crystal (Robert) Krueger, Aimee (Brian) Gentz, Lynn Lipp, Jennifer (Bob) Griffith, Todd (Christy) Adams, Wendy (Nick) Koch, Jessica Gradel and John Gradel III; 11 great-grandchildren, and sister, Helen Zoborski. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Savage, in 1955, and Marvin Murray, in 1991, and twin brother, Leonard Bitker. There was no visitation and interment was private. Arrangements were made by the David R. Jasin Funeral Home, Inc. John Russell, 92, of Point Place, died Friday, April 18, 2008, while at the Darlington House. He was born in Madison, Illinois, in 1915, to Kosta and Stella (Petro) Koeff. He worked as a pipeline operator for 50 years for Wolverine Pipeline, where he retired in 1983. He belonged to the Masonic Harbor Light Lodge #746 F&AM, for many years. He enjoyed tending to his rose garden. Mr. Russell is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bea (Davis); children, John (Pam) and James (Judy) Russell; grandchildren, Adrienne Radatke, Regan, Richard, and Catilan Russell, and Shawn (Rebekah) Snowddy, and great-grandchildren, Kailei Radatke and Audrey Snowddy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanne Snowddy and sister, Margaret Henningsen. Funeral services were held April 24, in the David R. Jasin Funeral Home , with the Rev. CHEYANNE SHIPMAN JERRY EICHENBERG Thelma J. Fox, 90, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008. She was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to John and Effie Mae (Hague) Green. She married John Fox on July 3, 1937. She was a member of the Cass Road Baptist Church. She had been active with the PTA, Mother’s Club, and the Girl Scouts at Stickney Elementary School. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family.Mrs. Fox is survived by her husband of 70 years, John; children, Janice (Jim) Burnham and Linda Walczak; grandchildren, Carl and John (Eva) Hinkelman, Kenneth (Joanne Moore) Walczak and David (Sarah) Walczak; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Hanna and Jessica; nephews, Ronald and Russell Green, and niece Joan Davies. Van Camp, 86, of Toledo, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008. She was born in Toledo, to Mortimer and Myrtle (Bradley) on March 25, 1922.She was a member of RiverPoint Ministries United Methodist Church. She dedicated herself to many areas of church service throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed playing bingo with her friends.She is survived by her children, Thomas (Kathy) Van Camp, Sandy (Jerry) Beale, Marjorie (Donald) Kuhn, and Ronald (Linette) Van Camp; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Sr.; daughter, Beth Ann Van Camp; son, Tim Van Camp; four brothers and three sisters.Funeral services were held April 11, at RiverPoint Ministries United Methodist Church, with the Rev. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia, in May of 1930, to Opal and Ernest Via. She moved to Toledo with her family, where she graduated from Waite High School. It was there she met Harry Kessler, the boy next door. At an early age, they eloped and were married for 60 years.She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she was active with Sunday School, evangelism, Bible study, and funeral dinners.Mrs. Kessler enjoyed spending summers with her family at Devil’s Lake, taking boat rides at sunset and inner tube rides to the raft. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, gardening and politics. She was Toledo’s First Lady from 1971 to 1977, when her husband was mayor.She is survived by her children, Lynn (Bill) Shambarger, Hope (Cecil) Hastings, Jim (Patty) Kessler, and Michael (Mannette) Kessler; grandchildren, Ellie, Ann, Liz, Jenny, Jasin, Lyndsi, Lisa and Becky, and three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Will and Laura. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry.Funeral services were held March 31, at Messiah Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Rushton officiating. Interment was in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
